🫂Community Reels from Beating of Homeless Man
Four teenagers were charged with attempted murder, and another is awaiting charges after an assault on a 45-year-old homeless man in the City of Binghamton that left him on life support. Police say the act was inspired by a social media trend.
Local officials like Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham have called the act "abhorrent and inexplicable," and others have called for more youth and homeless intervention to prevent these types of acts from being considered in the future (WBNG & Press & Sun)
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, but a GoFundMe was created for his family and funeral costs, which has already raised nearly $17,000.
🎠🏊Johnson City Carousel, Pool Might Not Be Seen This Summer
Leaders at the Village of Johnson City are weighing some hard news for park-goers this summer.
As budget talks go on, discussions on a new tax levy rate continue, with one proposal arguing that the Floral Ave. Park pool might not open this year as a cost-saving measure, also citing staffing difficulties (Fox40).
In addition, following a mechanical failure, officials in the Village announced that the CFJ Park carousel will be out of service all summer, and have not yet announced the extent of the damage or cost of repair (WBNG).
