About this site
Binghamtonian is a blog highlighting all there is to do in the Triple Cities (Greater Binghamton), New York area.
You can subscribe for free, no credit card required to stay up to date and receive emails when new content is published!
What you can expect
Content will be delivered via email and on this site, with the ability to turn email delivery on and off at your preference via the account settings menu once signed up. Turning off email delivery will not affect your access to premium content on the site.
This is manually written and curated (aka no A.I.) and any sponsorships will be clearly labeled as such.
Weekly Events Newsletter
Spotlight upcoming events, concerts, and festivals for the week, with other recommendations and highlights peppered in.
Regularly occurring events or those exclusive to members of an organization will not be covered. But in the future, expect regularly updated resources for things like local organizations to join, trivia nights, rec sports, and more.
Our coverage area is Broome County, plus bigger happenings nearby (like Owego).
This is essentially compiled via scouring the many disparate local events sites, be it the Visit Binghamton Calendar, WSKG Community Calendar, Facebook, or independent listings.
If you want to let this publication know about something in advance, send an email to info@binghamtonian.news!
If we miss something, shoot us a message and let us know where the best place to find it will be!
Weekly Variety Newsletter
Free members also get a weekly variety column every Wednesday covering local arts and culture!
If any additional articles are published on the website within the week, they will also be linked and mentioned within the email.
News Roundup Newsletter
This Friday newsletter collects the best stories published by area outlets to save you time, keep you informed, and respect your intelligence by making it so you don't miss a big story or have to scroll through Facebook or the outlet's websites to catch up on the week.
Why?
We lie in the crossroads of the northeast, the Valley of Opportunity, the Carousel Capital of the World, the Parlor City.
We have beautiful nature, a thriving local performing arts scene, live music to be found across the region, deep history, a swath of passionate nonprofits, varied industries, a patchwork of proud and celebrated ethnic communities, and sports to play in and watch up the wazoo! It's a fantastic place to raise kids, with great schools that offer a wide variety of courses, and excellent institutions like the Discovery Center, Ross Park, and Animal Adventure.
But I understand where people are coming from.
I could just say that it's a "skill issue" in finding what to love about the area, but that's not quite fair. News outlets in the area that rely primarily on press releases or have limited resources do not currently offer a good resource on things to do, with established calendars being incomplete or relying primarily on user submissions.
So despite the Triple Cities (or Greater Binghamton Area, depending on your preference) being a metro of a quarter of a million people, it can often feel small and quiet, with any gems feeling hidden.
Binghamtonian is here to change that, helping the community get as engaged and informed as it can be while saving everyone time and effort doing so!
