🏚️City of Binghamton Wins More Lawsuits Against Negligent Landlords

Following the wins against owners of derelict properties like the to-be demolished Binghamton Plaza, the now-demolished Kenmore Building at 263 Washington St., and the takeover of 26 properties from Brooklyn landlord Isaac Anzaroot (Press & Sun, WBNG, City of Binghamton).

This includes a $10,000 win against a Town of Maine landlord over a deteriorating porch at 35 William St., and a $414,000 win against JST Properties in Endwell for safety issues at 6 Janette Ave (WBNG, NC34).

In July, the city also took the owner of the fire-damaged 243 Court Street to court over code violations and dangerous conditions (WBNG).

🎓Binghamton University's New Plan, New Updates

Binghamton University President Anne D'Alleva is nearing her first full year in the role and released a new five-year strategic plan for the institution focused on expanding research opportunities for undergraduate students and emphasizing creative and public good partnerships locally and elsewhere (Pipe Dream).

This comes at the same time the university unveils a new gaming lounge for students (WBNG) and $30 million gym expansion (Press & Sun).
