🚓ICE Raids Ramp Up in Broome County
Concerned residents, including the collective BingICEWatch, have shared multiple videos of new ICE raids in Broome County (NC34), saying 22 people in the area have been detained this week.
The federal agents have not abided by the NY State mask ban, claiming safety concerns (NC34), and activists have warned vulnerable residents to stay home out of concern that even those with legal residence will be detained (NC34).
Most videos show people being targeted and pulled from their cars between 6 am and 11 am in the Endicott and Johnson City areas (WBNG).
🏚️Knights Inn Fire Spurs More Efforts on Housing
Sen. Lea Webb and outgoing Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo held a conference to spotlight housing benefits from the new New York State budget, including new construction of owner-occupied housing and rental assistance.
They say they are calling on partners in government and development to create more affordable and supportive housing projects in Broome (NC34). They remind those facing housing emergencies to call the help hotline 211 (WBNG)
Demonstrators have continued to organize outside of the government complex in Downtown Binghamton demanding greater action (Fox40 & WBNG) and a memorial for the victims was held at the American Legion Post 80 (Fox40).
