☎️Protest as Price Increases for Inmate Communications

Local activists are protested as the price for text messages to people on the outside of the Broome County Jail doubled to $0.50 due to a resolution passed by the Broome County Legislature (Press & Sun).

Phone calls, video conferencing, and access to entertainment on tablets also got cost increases. Sheriff Akshar said the price increases coincide with costs associated with the services.
