Welcome, Binghamtonian!

There's a certain misleading racket oft repeated by area natives, college students, and transplants alike: "There's nothing to do in Binghamton!"
I stand by that this is unequivocally false.
First of all, I've been to a whole lot of places – and let's be real, we don't have it bad at all, folks.
We lie in the crossroads of the northeast, the Valley of Opportunity, the Carousel Capital of the World, the Parlor City.
We have beautiful nature, a thriving local performing arts scene, live music to be found across the region, deep history, a swath of passionate nonprofits, varied industries, a patchwork of proud and celebrated ethnic communities, and sports to play in and watch up the wazoo! It's a fantastic place to raise kids, with great schools that offer a wide variety of courses, and excellent institutions like the Discovery Center, Ross Park, and Animal Adventure.
But I understand where people are coming from.
I could just say that it's a "skill issue" in finding what to love about the area, but that's not quite fair. News outlets in the area that rely primarily on press releases or have limited resources do not currently offer a good resource on things to do, with established calendars being incomplete or relying primarily on user submissions.
So despite the Triple Cities (or Greater Binghamton Area, depending on your preference) being a metro of a quarter of a million people, it can often feel small and quiet, with any gems feeling hidden.
And so, this is Binghamtonian – a brand new blog highlighting all that you can do in the Binghamton, NY area.
What you can expect

Subscribers will get weekly rundowns on Monday mornings in their email inbox and on this site spotlighting upcoming events, concerts, and festivals for the week, with other recommendations peppered in.
Regularly occurring events or those exclusive to members of an organization will not be covered. But in the future, expect regularly updated resources for things like local organizations to join, trivia nights, rec sports, and more.
Our coverage area is Broome County plus or minus what is accessible nearby (like Owego).
