Binghamton Area Events Week of 2/23/26: Black History Month, Philharmonic Pops, Local Opera and More
A plethora of theatrical productions and the philharmonic centerpiece a week of history, celebrations, music, workshops and dancing
Binghamtonian is a reader-funded, writer-owned publication aimed at connecting residents of the Greater Binghamton Area with their community.
This list probably isn't everything - and if any events pop up or are missed, the web version will be updated throughout the week!
Are we missing something? Please let me know at info@binghamtonian.news
It's one of those weeks where no matter your taste in theatre, you can find something great. Between the new Tri-City Opera production, RENT, Agnes of God and Boys in the Band - take your pick and enjoy!
Plus, learn about the county's namesake and black history, check out local comedy, or see some live music.
And for those who are, as I have been, obsessed with the Winter Olympics – the Finger Lakes Culting Club is holding a 'Learn to Curl' lesson up in Lansing if you're willing to make the drive.
Get out there and have a great week!

LUCIDITY is a deeply emotional contemporary opera that explores the transformative power of music in unlocking memories and emotions in the face of dementia. Through a poignant narrative of sacrifice, identity, and love, the opera delves into the complexities of caregiving and the human experience of memory loss. Newly commissioned from Laura Kaminsky and David Cote in honor of TCO's 75th Anniversary, the production will star Judy Berry as Lili. Sung in English with projected English supertitles.

🎭Fri. 2/27 - Sun. 3/1 Opening Weekend: The Boys in the Band
It’s 1968, and a group of friends gather for a birthday party and a festive evening full of music, drinks, and a game of “Truth”. But once fueled by alcohol, tensions rise as the night progresses. This fun ”Truth’ game goes terribly wrong and ends up exposing hidden secrets and bitter unresolved issues, leading to confrontations and emotional outbursts. This groundbreaking play premiered Off-Broadway in 1968. A true theatrical game-changer, The Boys in the Band helped spark a revolution by putting gay men’s lives onstage, unapologetically and without judgment, in a world that was not yet willing to accept them fully.
